Boulder Cup is provided by IX Design UK LTD in the United Kingdom. This policy describes the iOS game and this website. For personal information handled by us, IX Design UK LTD is the controller. Contact: support@ix-design.uk.
The game
The current game keeps a personal best and cached standings on your device. Online runs submit a country and score, with hold counts, jumps and elapsed time used to validate the result. It does not ask for your name, email address or a Boulder Cup account. Country is player-selected; Cloudflare can suggest an approximate country from network metadata.
The iOS version integrates Google AdMob advertising, Google’s User Messaging Platform for privacy choices, and Apple StoreKit for the optional remove-ads purchase. The game does not request GPS, contacts, photos, camera or microphone access. First-party game analytics is disabled in the current release, as described below.
Advertising and privacy choices
The free iOS game can show occasional full-screen ads between climbs. We request non-personalised ads. Starting with version 1.0 build 5, the game requests Apple’s App Tracking Transparency permission before starting Google consent or advertising. If you allow tracking, Google may use Apple’s advertising identifier to measure advertising across apps and websites. If you decline, or tracking is restricted, the advertising identifier is unavailable to Google and ads remain non-personalised. Your choice does not restrict gameplay. You can change Apple’s tracking permission in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Non-personalised advertising still involves data processing: Google and its advertising partners may process IP-derived approximate location, device or app identifiers, ad views and interactions, and diagnostic or performance information to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud. The consent message identifies the applicable partners and purposes.
Where required, the game asks for your privacy choices before requesting ads. You can consent, decline, or manage individual options. Open “Privacy” in the pause menu and choose “Advertising privacy options” to revisit privacy choices when available. Declining consent does not block gameplay. Google may serve limited ads where permitted by your choices and its policies. We do not supply player names, email addresses, leaderboard run tickets or scores to the ad SDK.
Ad-related consent and storage are handled through Google’s consent tools. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services and the partner information in the consent message. The optional remove-ads purchase stops further ad requests once Apple verifies your entitlement; it does not delete data already held by advertising providers.
Purchases
Apple processes the optional one-time purchase. The game receives product, price and verified purchase-entitlement information through StoreKit to enable ad removal and restore previous purchases. We do not receive your payment card or bank details. You can restore purchases from “Remove ads” using the Apple Account that made the purchase. Apple retains purchase records under its own policies.
The online scoreboard
The shared scoreboard ranks the three highest individual runs and publishes their country labels, scores and achievement times. Qualifying records are visible to other players and visitors to this website. There are no player names or profiles.
The service runs on Cloudflare Workers and D1. Online runs use temporary run tickets; the server stores ticket hashes and validation results. Tickets expire after 24 hours and expired run records are cleaned up daily. Country records remain until replaced or removed. IP addresses are used for rate limiting and are not written into the game database; Cloudflare may retain infrastructure logs under the account configuration. Game Center
Connecting to Apple Game Center is optional. When connected before a climb, a server-accepted score can be sent to Apple’s Game Center leaderboard under your Game Center account. The game can display your Game Center profile and friends’ scores through Apple’s services and stores pending account-bound scores locally for retry. We do not send Game Center identifiers, names or friends to our scoreboard, analytics or advertising service. Apple handles Game Center information under its own privacy policy and your Game Center settings.
This website
This website does not add advertising, analytics scripts, contact forms, marketing cookies or browser-storage tracking. On page load, the home page makes a read-only request to the Boulder Cup leaderboard API, operated on Cloudflare, to display the latest public scores and country labels. Cloudflare processes network information including IP address for delivery and rate limiting; the response can include an approximate country derived from the request, which this website does not display or store. The website does not submit scores or create run tickets. It is hosted through OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare. Delivering and securing the website involves processing network requests, which can include your IP address, browser information, requested URL and request time. Those providers may process technical information under their own service policies and retention arrangements.
If you contact support
If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request, investigate problems and handle privacy requests. Please do not send passwords, payment card details or other sensitive information.
We process support correspondence for our legitimate interests in providing support and keeping our services reliable, and where necessary to meet legal obligations. We retain correspondence only as long as needed to resolve the matter, handle follow-up and meet applicable obligations; we review whether continued retention is necessary. You can request deletion by email.
Game analytics
First-party game analytics is disabled in the current release. The game does not send climb-start, Game Center usage or country-change events to our Umami service, and there is no analytics consent prompt or Game analytics setting. Updating to this release clears locally queued analytics events and the saved analytics installation identifier.
Earlier test builds offered optional analytics with consent. Disabling collection does not immediately delete events already received. Those records remain subject to the existing 90-day event retention and cleanup controls. If you previously saved an analytics installation ID, you can email it to us to request deletion; we cannot locate these records using your name or Game Center account.
The previous analytics service uses Railway hosting in San Francisco, United States, and a Neon database in London, United Kingdom. Existing records and infrastructure logs remain subject to the service providers’ retention and backup arrangements. See Railway privacy information and Neon privacy information.
Disabling game analytics does not disable the advertising, purchase or scoreboard processing described above. This website has no analytics scripts.
Sharing and international processing
Website hosting and email service providers process information to deliver these services. We may also disclose information where legally required. Providers may operate outside the UK; their applicable transfer safeguards and processing arrangements are described in their privacy information. The leaderboard service processes submitted game results as described above.
Keeping and deleting information
Personal bests, cached standings and pending submissions are stored on your phone. Removing the app removes its local installation but does not remove public country records. Device or operating-system backups are controlled by Apple, Google and your device settings. We cannot retrieve information held only on your phone.
For information provided to us through support, contact support@ix-design.uk to request access, correction or deletion. For a public record enquiry, include the score, country and approximate time of the run. These details alone do not establish ownership.
Your privacy rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict or object to processing, and receive a portable copy of information. If processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent. Contact us to exercise your rights; we may need to verify a request without asking for unnecessary information.
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or your local data protection authority.
Children
Boulder Cup is a general-audience game and is not specifically directed at children. Follow the age rating and account requirements shown by your app store. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission, contact us so we can address it.
Updates and service policies
We will update this page when our practices change and show the revised date. Material changes will be explained in the game where appropriate.
